Who we are:

WE’RE ANCIENT AND NEW

The faith we hold is ancient, going back to Jesus, back to his spiritual ancestors, back to those who first walked the earth and touched the Holy. What we do is based on ancient patterns: Worship and music; loving service to the poor, the hurting, the lonely; working for justice and peace; fearless inquiry and thoughtful formation of minds and souls.  Our faith is also completely contemporary, engaged in the culture and the needs of the moment.

WHAT WE’RE FOR:

Community; the dignity and worth of every person; an open-minded, passionate commitment to truth; the importance of everyone’s own spiritual journey; God’s friends wherever we find them; seeking Christ in every person who comes through the door; the sacredness of life’s passages; the hard work necessary to make sure that all are welcome; telling the truth about life’s challenges; a church experience that is both faithful to our ancient heritage and “user friendly”; children, and families of every sort.

WHAT WE’RE AGAINST:

Claiming to have all the answers; elitism and exclusivity (especially in the church); bigotry for any reason; authoritarianism; indifference to injustice and suffering; certitude in the face of ambiguity; superficial answers to hard questions.

WHAT WE VALUE:

Holy Scripture and the living traditions passed down through the centuries, plus the power of God-given reason to interpret their relevance and apply their principles to the present; open hearts; open minds; open arms; faith and faithfulness; honesty and trustworthiness; the community of love which we try to be as God’s Church; civic responsibility as Oklahomans, Americans and global citizens; open debate that cherishes mutual respect; music, art, poetry and beauty; joy in and respect for God’s creation; anyone who loves God, and anyone who wants to know and follow Jesus.

WHEREVER YOU’RE FROM, WHEREVER YOU ARE IN LIFE, THIS CHURCH WELCOMES YOU!
